still crashes

zogi (anon, 06.07.2009 15.08)

Yes, still crashes, but at least it is one step closer.
On 0.62 it crashed immediately, now I can see the settings page for a second and then it is crashed.

Michael (anon, 06.07.2009 16.42)

Works great now! Thanks (for ruining my life as I can't escape IRC now even outside)!

zogi (anon, 06.07.2009 16.52)

Have installed drjukka now:
Crashlog says something like:

Exit category: Setting item list
Exit type: Panic
Exit reason: 6

Hope this will help you.

daw (anon, 06.07.2009 18.22)

found a fix, uninstall previuos version and install this one and it will work fine

Symbiatch (anon, 06.07.2009 18.26)

I was just about to ask someone to test uninstalling and reinstalling mIRGGI to check if the problem is what I think it is. And it is.

I'll repost 0.63 now, wait 5 minutes and then download again, or do a uninstall/reinstall.

zogi (anon, 06.07.2009 19.56)

Thanks for that tip.
Uninstalling and reinstalling solved it.

Now it is running on my N85.

Great Application! Great job! Keep it up!

Ville (anon, 06.07.2009 20.56)

Nokia N97, latest fm 11... something and works without problems. Hopes this is as stable as in e63

If you already have 0.63, is there any reason to upgrade?

when someone ctcp pings you, it still crashes

zarewitch (anon, 09.07.2009 10.02)

Same problem as Fernando.
Use mIRGGI_5th_063.

Thx a lot (!) for this app, it works great on nokia E63 !

Just installed this on the road. Using 5800 XM. Iwas just about to write complaints but I suddrnly got everythin to work. The only thing that bugs me is the unused space for three control buttons in landscape mode. Also, clickable links would be awesome. Thanks.

M (anon, 12.07.2009 23.30)

"settings work now but still i can't connect. when I try to connect It just says: Resolving server address... SysError: -1 Disconnected from server. And it doesn't ask where to connect."

Same problem! What to do? (5800)

Galantti (anon, 12.07.2009 23.59)

"resolving server address...."
"SysError: -5120"
"disconnected from server"

this is what my 5800 says :P

Richard (anon, 13.07.2009 03.14)

I can connect to one server (hunkymouse.co.uk) and disconnect again, but mIRGGI crashes when I try to connect to another server (irc.ramtops.org). I'm using a Nokia E51.

Y Crash Monitor:
!CookieServer - Kill: 0,Kill
!DhcpServ40fd0822 - Kill: 0,Kill
mIRGGI - Panic: 9,USER

I've also found that if you use the same name in Username and in Nickname then mIRGGI demand you set a new Nickname.

Dave (anon, 13.07.2009 23.31)

on the 58 00, I can enter text in the line at the bottom of a chat window. But, there seems to be no way to press enter so that said text is sent to the channel. Also did not see an option to switch windows. Only to close the current window. Thanks.Thanks.

miksuh (anon, 14.07.2009 07.34)

mirggi 0.63 works great on my Nokia 5800 XPressMusic. This version has not crashed on my phone, so it seems to be much more stable than previous versions. Settings now also work just fine.

I don't seem to have that CTCP PING problem reported by fernando and zarewitch. I did ping myself (mirggi) from myself (xchat) and mirggi did not crash.

miksuh (anon, 14.07.2009 07.41)

@Dave

"on the 58 00, I can enter text in the line at the bottom of a chat window. But, there seems to be no way to press enter so that said text is sent to the channel."

Use the enter key in the 5800 XM's QWERTY keyboard :) Pressing it does send the text to channel.

"Also did not see an option to switch windows. Only to close the current window."

You can switch window bt pressing the phone volume control buttons.

miksuh (anon, 14.07.2009 08.13)

Oh, I almost forgot. I have to report one cosmetic bug. Ofcourse it could be a symptom of something more serious than what it looks like.

When I use 5800 XPressMusic phone in horizontal then screen refresh is not complete. Here is how to reproduce the bug:

1) use phone in horizontal
2) enter line of text
3) close the virtual keyvoard

the result is that in the right side of screen part of the keyboard is seen as "ghost-picture". It looks like mirggi does not clear/refresh/re-draw the whole screen and that's why that happens.

That bug does not affect the usability, but it looks a bit weird and it could confuse user to think that there is some extra buttons on screen :D

I try to get som screenshots send send link to them.

miksuh (anon, 14.07.2009 08.15)

Ehm, actually you don't need to enter any text. Just open and then close the virtual keayboard.

Eiskis (anon, 14.07.2009 13.53) kotisivu

The three control buttons on the right in horizontal mode are unused and the space is not refreshed. You can see and control the scrollbar through them, which is very weird and frankly quite unusable. Mirggi should make use of the touch screen by allowing users to scroll by dragging (pressing anywhere on the screen) like in most other programs. Hiding the scrollbar behind the control buttons is pretty awkward, and scrolling is pretty hard now. I also encountered a weird scrolling bug where the screen would scroll back up every time I scrolled to the bottom, switching windows fixed it.

Symbiatch (anon, 14.07.2009 14.54)

I'll have to test the scrollings and stuff, I didn't do that much work on them and naturally didn't even think about using it in landscape mode :P

Eiskis (anon, 14.07.2009 21.08) kotisivu

Actually it's pretty darn usable in landscape mode (you type with your thumbs, switch channels with the left index finger), pretty darn useless otherwise (you only get the full-size querty KB in landscape mode). I don't really imagine anyone using it in any other way.

Dave (anon, 15.07.2009 08.00)

Ah, got it. I have to actually generate an "enter" with the 0 key. That sends the text (but leaves the virtual keyboard open).

Closing the virtual keyboard does NOT send the text. It leaves the text in the input line.

Being able to separately set the size of the input line to be larger (since I have to click in it to bring up the virtual keyboard) WITHOUT increasing the font size of the channel display text would also be a nice feature.

andu (anon, 16.07.2009 20.44) kotisivu

Hilight option would be nice, so it could be possible to use mirggi in background and if someone hilights you, you get notified-

Matze (anon, 19.07.2009 14.14)

That's right. A highlight option would make the program just more perfect as it is right now. I'm looking forward to this one if it will be added =). It could work just like when you get a sms. So that it vibrates when you get a query-message or your name is written in any channel or something like that.

Symbiatch (anon, 19.07.2009 17.41)

@Dave: I'll increase the size of the input line, it's already on the list. I noticed it's unusable when it's so small. I'll also try to get the input as smooth as possible.

And for the highlight, yes it's coming. Enough with the harassment :)

What causes this error?

AUTH:*** Found your hostname
AUTH:*** No ident response
Closing Link: by port80a.se.quakenet.org (Registration timeout)
Disconnected from server

I get these randomly when trying to connect. Sometimes it works, sometimes it can be hours before it connects. Is there something I can do about it?

Matze (anon, 20.07.2009 23.31)

Well, it seemes your connection isn't the best when you get timeouts. The device just doesn't respond to the servers requests I guess, due to bad connection.

Hello !

I find it a great program, I searched for an IRC client for my symbian phone long ago. It's just what I needed.

I would suggest to elaborate the LOGS option in the menu, and let user to enable a global setting that would record ALL the logs (toggle for privates and toggle for channels) because now the memory space is no more an issue. I generally use to erase unwanted files my own so if the program comes with the LOGS ENABLED option by default, I can manually switch the logging off, and delete the unnecesarry files.

Thank you !
Keep up !

5800xm got another firmware update and writing is still not possible without extra software. Pressing input line with stylus makes phone only vibrate. Have to use virtual keyboard software to press ok. Now it's possible to write and use mirggi normally.

Really weird. Are you sure you really have installed the latest version of Mirggi? I do use Muirggi on Nokia 5800 XM and I don't have the problem you explained. QWriting works just fine by clicking the input field. I don't need to use any extra software or extra virtual keyboard.

Mirggi wors wery well on my Nokia 5800 XM.

Yes, I have 0.63... it was working like a charm with fw 21. I have done hard reset always after fw upgrade and with two latest upgrades mirggi is not fully functional.

Also my friend has exactly same problem with 5800.

Jehde (anon, 23.09.2009 09.25)

I have mIRGGI for S60v3 installed on my E71x. When I first installed it, there were no problems. However, every time I tried to connect to a server, mIRGGI would ask permission to use the wifi connection. After a few times, I noticed some sort of 'always allow' option, so I chose it. But now, whenever I try to connect to a server, it simply outputs "Resolving server address..." and doesn't do anything from there. Going into the option menu allows you to attempt to connect again, but this crashes mIRGGI. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling mIRGGI, but I still get the same issue. Which leads me to believe it's some sort of cached application data in my phone. Would anyone know how to find/delete this cache?

Hi,

I use the 5th edition version on my N97 with firmware v12.0.026.

Whenever I try to connect with SSL, after accepting the untrusted certificate with either this time only or permanently, it prints "mIRGGI: Feature not supported" and then just hangs there without connecting to the server.

It works fine without SSL but I need SSL to connect to the server I'm using.

Which version should I use for Nokia E63? I installed 0.63 successfully but when I tried to open the application, it says "Feature not supported". I tried 2nd edition meant for FP1 - http://2nd.mirggi.net/ - but I could not even install it. Please advise. Thanks.

How does one use this on 5800 xpressmusic as it does not have numeric keys, no way to switch channels or write anything.

Mclaw (anon, 04.11.2009 09.17)

Not using latest phone firmware because nokia software updater did not support win7 with the latest update, funny though that the updater had worked before that.

"How does one use this on 5800 xpressmusic as it does not have numeric keys, no way to switch channels or write anything."

Have been using VirtualKeyBoard 0.9.4 beta to control mirggi on 5800. A few firmware updates ago 0.63 was working just fine without extra software. With VirtualKeyBoard you can control mirggi, but it's not very enjoyable way to chat. I think last fw working without fuss was 21.
